All eyes of technology enthusiasts were on the disruptive talk by Tasleem Arif, Vice President and R&D Head, OPPO India, in New Delhi recently. Speaking at 'Tech 4.0 and talent pool challenges’, Arif was visibly happy that R&D was given much emphasis at economic conclaves. He added that his presence at the conclave itself said a lot about how much importance 'Research & Development' in technology is getting in today's age of innovation in mobile phones.

Talking about how OPPO intends to bring in more game-changing experiences for consumers in the mobile phone segment, Tasleem Arif said, "Camera is very close to our OPPO business. Camera and Technology are really touching users and helping businesses. Our brand is concentrating much on the product. When we have to launch a great product in the market, R&D becomes very important. System, Camera & Network - require different kinds of talent pools. Both India markets and India talent pools, together help R&D of OPPO to be established." Especially, given that the India market for mobile phones is considered different from the rest of the world.

OPPO follows 'Make in India' rule fully. Apart from manufacturing in India, R&D for OPPO in India also plays a key role. New products that are completely developed by R&D of OPPO India are expected to be launched in 2020. In fact, this year too, some OPPO products that were launched in the market boasted of OPPO R&D India's role. Outside of China, India R&D plays a big role in creating complete, new software for mobile phones.

Asked to reveal how a mobile phone will look like in the next five years by 2025 and which new features can one look forward to, Arif said, "If you see the trend, every six months technology changes in mobile phones. In the next few years 5G will be big. We were one of the few Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) who demonstrated 5G experience in India Mobile Conference some time ago. The way technology is changing, we are trying to find out how we can innovate. We are already spending a lot more resources to come up with solutions which are good in the next 2-4 years. There will be many new innovations coming up from OPPO."

OPPO, the leading global smartphone brand also won the award for the “Best Innovation in Camera Technology” at Times Network, India Economic Conclave 2019 North Chapter held in Delhi.
